Overview

Dr. Amanda Selk is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto and a staff obstetrician-gynaecologist at Mount Sinai Hospital. She provides comprehensive obstetrical care and specializes in colposcopy, HPV-related disease and vulvar skin disorders.

Dr. Selk completed her BSc at the University of Toronto and her MD at Western University before returning to Toronto for residency training in obstetrics and gynaecology. She holds a Master of Science in health research methodology from McMaster University, a Master of Health Administration from the University of Ottawa and has completed advanced postgraduate training in vulvar dermatology.

Her practice includes caring for patients throughout pregnancy and childbirth, evaluating abnormal cervical cancer screening tests and precancerous changes of the cervix, and diagnosing and treating common and complex vulvar skin disorders. Dr. Selk is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and believes patients achieve the best outcomes when they feel heard, informed and involved in decisions about their health.

Dr. Selk is internationally recognized for her work in lower genital tract disease. She is Clinical Lead for Colposcopy and the Vulvar Gynaecology–Dermatology Clinics and directs the Vulvovaginal Health Fellowship. A past president of both the North American chapter of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD) and the Society of Canadian Colposcopists, she is now president-elect of the ISSVD and serves on the board of the International Federation for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy (IFCPC).

Dr. Selk shares evidence-based information with health-care professionals and the public through lectures, publications, the Vulva Diaries podcast and social media (@drselkdownthere).
